We advise rights holders – both holders of trademarks confronting issues related to possible geographical connotation of their marks and holders of Geographical Indications (GI) and Appellations of Origin (AO) – on the protection and enforcement of their rights in Israel.

We act before the Israel Trademark Office for registration, opposition to and cancellation of registrations; as well as conducting litigation before the various courts and handling portfolio management. We have been closely involved in global disputes for famous trademarks, GIs, and AOs. As a result, we have been standing at the forefront of changes in geographical indications and appellations of origin law and practice for many decades and our practitioners continue to lead the way in their involvement in the legislative process.

Core Capabilities

  • Legal Advisory Services: Advise on legal issues relating to geographical indications, appellations of origin, trademarks and related rights, such as certification and collective trademarks.
  • Litigation: representing clients in legal proceedings before the Israeli courts and Trademarks Office related to registration and enforcement of geographical indications, appellations of origin and related rights.
  • Registration Assistance: Assistance in the registration procedures to benefit from intellectual property rights on the basis of the legislation in force. Filing of the application and managing its prosecution, responding to office actions issued by the Israeli Trademarks Office and to oppositions submitted.
  • Product Specification Support: Assistance in the drafting of the specifications for the qualification of the product and associated rules.
