Our tax team advises on all taxation aspects of indirect tax, particularly Value Added Tax (VAT), customs duties and purchase tax.

We have extensive experience advising our clients on the VAT treatment of supplies of goods and services in Israel, including advising on the VAT implications of the acquisition and disposal of business assets and real estate transactions.

Our expertise includes advising and representing clients on enquiries or disputes with the Israel Customs and VAT Division from the first stages of internal disputes through to appeals at the district court and Supreme Court.

 

Experience

  • Representing Dubek Ltd., Israel’s largest cigarette manufacturing company, in a dispute with the tax authorities concerning purchase tax and VAT payable in connection with the export of cigarettes for subsequent sale abroad.  Our assistance included representing Dubek in legal proceedings before the court, including appeals, the managing of complex and numerous negotiations with the tax authorities and ultimately the execution of settlement agreements with both the tax authorities and the Attorney General
  • Representing Lime and Stone Ltd., Israel’s largest producer of aggregates, in connection with various tax issues, and in reaching a tax settlement with the VAT authorities
  • Representing Hilton International, the global hospitality company, in connection with a VAT dispute with the VAT authorities.
  • Representing Momjian the Jerusalem Jewellery Manufacturing Co. Ltd., in disputes concerning VAT and customs duties in connection with the taxation of the import and export of jewellery, which disputes were resolved by way of a settlement agreement signed following mediation
  • Advising Pharma Clinical S.A.G (2003) Ltd., Israel’s largest clinical research organisation company, on a variety of tax and VAT issues, and in connection with its reorganisation in Switzerland
