Ori Gaon

With some 40 years of professional experience in the field, encompassing the management of complex, high-value proceedings, Ori represents virtually all of the banking corporations operating in Israel, both in substantive disputes and in questions of principle concerning the law of obligations, contract law, and the law of property and securities. He regularly advises the Association of Banks in Israel on matters of principle bearing on the public at large and on banking corporations in particular.

Ori has particular expertise in insolvency proceedings – as an office holder in complex cases, as counsel to creditors, and as counsel to office holders – and serves as an arbitrator in various complex commercial disputes brought before him by the parties and/or referred to him by the courts.

Over the course of his career, Ori has led significant matters in corporate reorganization and liquidation and in shareholder disputes, and has participated in legislative processes, including active involvement in the deliberations of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee on Amendments No. 4 and No. 9 to the Insolvency and Economic Rehabilitation Law. He has particular expertise in all matters relating to the law of bank guarantees and documentary letters of credit, and throughout his career has been involved in legal proceedings in which precedent-setting and guiding judgments were rendered.

Ori served as Vice President and Chairman of the District Disciplinary Tribunal in Tel Aviv of the Israel Bar Association, and as a member of the Central Committee of the National Council of the Israel Bar Association (1999–2003).
